Help US Stock The Toy Box!

The Little Friends program is designed to help the smallest family members of our hospice patients.

Our staff are using a teddy bear to give a little comfort despite the illnesses their loved ones are experiencing. The bear is a simple reminder that they can find love and support everywhere.
In addition to the teddy bear, Tillery Compassionate Care will have other items for staff to give children when they are having a difficult day. Staff will have coloring books, crayons, small books, and more available to give to children on patient visits.

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗨𝗦 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘆 𝗕𝗼𝘅!
We will accept donations of new books, crayons, coloring books, or monetary donations to the Little Friends Program.
When making a monetary donation, please list Little Friends Program (LFP)!

May 27, 2025 (ALBEMARLE, NC) – Tillery Compassionate Care recently hosted a day camp for children and their families who have experienced a death-related loss. Camp Forget-Me-Not was held on Saturday, May 17 at Camp Joshua. The theme for the event was Giving Hope Wings and featured a butterfly release.

“Camp Forget-Me-Not is a free day camp to support all those children and their families impacted by a death related loss. This camp provides a safe space for the child and their family to share the story of their loved ones, honor their memory, and provides a feeling that they are not so alone in this thing called grief,” said Bereavement Coordinator Janna Spurr, MSW, LCSW. “This special day also provides education on what to expect in grief, ways to cope, and learning to walk through the grief.”

Fun activities at camp include horseback riding, fishing, crafts, 75-foot slip & slide, flavored snow cones, and a butterfly release.  Each camper receives a special memory bear made from something that was their loved ones.

The event registration, all meals, and supplies are provided at no charge to the campers. Camp Forget-Me-Not is open to any children ages 6-17 and their families in Stanly and Montgomery Counties who have experienced a death, even if the death was not hospice related.
