The Tarheel Challenge Association is excited to announce the 2025 Tarheel Challenge Scholarship Golf Tournament on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Tillery Tradition Country Club, Mt. Gilead, NC. This event is more than just a day on the course - it's your opportunity to change the lives of our North Carolina at-risk youth. The Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) formed to support the Tarheel Challenge Academy – New London, NC, which provides a second chance for high school dropouts to earn their high school degrees. The Association offers education grants for up to 2 semesters of approved follow-on higher education. Here's how you can help make a difference for our NC youth: PLAY: Form your team and enjoy a day of friendly competition on the course. SPONSOR: Sponsor a hole or showcase your brand while supporting a great cause. Tournament sponsors will be recognized at the Gold $1,000, Silver $500 or Bronze $250 levels. Uwharrie Wampus Cats 2025 Volunteers Needed
The Uwharrie Wampus Cats are looking to add Volunteers for this summer to learn sports business skills and assist with the team;s game-day operations. Paid positions have been filled. Unpaid volunteers are still being accepted.
About the Wampus Cats: The Uwharrie Wampus Cats are a summer collegiate baseball team based in downtown Albemarle, North Carolina. We play 25 home games from late May through the end of July and 2025 will be our third season as a club. We sell tickets, sponsorship and concessions/beer and provide a great gameday experience for our fans. A New Resource for Our Community
We are excited to introduce you to Stanly Adult Care Center, Inc., a new nonprofit facility in Albemarle, NC that is dedicated to providing high-quality adult day health services.
Our mission is to support adults with physical and mental impairments while offering respite care to their families. Through personalized care and engaging therapeutic activities, we aim to improve the quality of life for those in need within Stanly County and surrounding areas. Our goal is help adults age in place using the resources we have available in the community. |
What We Offer: - Healthcare monitoring by a nurse - Therapeutic activities and personal care services - A beauty shop, shower room, walking trail, and raised bed gardens for community engagement - A warm, welcoming space to help individuals stay connected with their community - Nutritious meals, including breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack Hours of Service: We will be open Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to accommodate the needs of participants and their families. Although we’re still in the renovation phase we are already building a foundation of support for this important community resource. We are on track to open late Spring 2025. Ways You Can Get Involved: Volunteer with Us: Help support our programs and connect with the people we serve by signing up to volunteer.
